Last week, my challenge was to lower graphics settings on PC games. Which was a phenomenally stupid challenge to set for myself because it didn't make sense while I stream games.
This week, the challenge is more reasonable: check out and consider joining a Buy Nothing group near you.
People have been trying a few times to make this a thing for a while (Freecycle, anyone?) but this group seems to be getting some pretty solid traction.
I haven't read the book but the premise is simple - "We offer people a way to give and receive, share, lend, and express gratitude through a worldwide network of hyper-local gift economies in which the true wealth is the web of connections formed between people who are real-life neighbors."
I don't really need to make the argument of buying less stuff means saving the environment, right? Right. Check it out and see if there's a group near you. I'm going to be exploring my own local group this week, too.
